Reiki
What Is Reiki?
The knowledge that an unseen energy flows through all living things and is connected directly to the quality of health has been part of the wisdom of many cultures since ancient times. The existence of this “life force energy” has been verified by recent scientific experiments, and medical doctors are considering the role it plays in the functioning of the immune system and the healing process. In fact, Reiki treatments are now offered and encouraged at hospitals locally and across the United States. Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that allows everyone to improve health and enhance their quality of life.
How Does Reiki Work?
We are alive because of the life force that flows through us. It flows through the energy meridians within the body, and around us in a field of energy called the aura. This energy nourishes the organs, cells and tissues of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted or blocked, it causes diminished functions in one or more areas. Reiki works by directing energy through the affected parts of the body and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field, thus causing the energy blocks to break apart and fall away. In doing so, Reiki clears, straightens and balances energy pathways, creating the groundwork for the body’s own healing ability to occur.
What Is A Reiki Session Like?
While the recipient is lying down, fully clothed, the practitioner places his or her hands on specific areas of the body that correspond to the main energy centers on the head, chest, abdomen, legs, and feet (similar to site used by acupuncturists). As energy is transferred, the recipient may experience warmth or coolness, gentle tingling, or just an incredible feeling of deep relaxation. Be prepared for a greater sense of health and wellbeing, and the knowledge that you have taken a step toward a better quality of life.
